Can I get some advise for setting up for my first bridal expo?
I have been operating online for several years now (approx 6) so I know my stuff when it comes to my products - however I am a little nervous about organising and preparing for my first expo. As I am based online I dont deal directly face to face with alot of my brides - although I have fantastic customer service skills and am confident in speaking with people. I have 3 bridal gowns, 1 bmaid on hand currently and 1 mannequin, Im thinking about getting 1 more wedding gown, 2 bmaids and a mother of the bride outfit - should i have enough mannequins to dress all the gowns or shall i hang them on a rack? Also should I have a table with photos of real brides dresses available etc? Should I have some printed and framed? I sell veils and pearl jewellery also should I have these available for on the day sale? And what kind of forms do you think I should have there - I was also thinking about doing some kind of sale on the day. I have just over 2 months to go. Thanks in advance
If you do not plan to sell the items you have on hand, I would aim to have what you have on display on mannequins, or otherwise on display, such as hanging flat against the back of your booth space (if possible). By having them on racks you are unnecessarily crowding your already limited space, and also creating the impression that the items are for purchase.
I do think pictures of actual brides would be great. Pick several of your best, preferably satisfied customers (if available), and blow them up into a large size to set on your tables. In addition, a portfolio of your selection in a folder (more than one) should be available. Anything you have on hand that you can bring as Cash & Carry would be a good idea: veils, jewelry, accessories etc.
A special discount for expo attendees is a great idea. If you operate online only, you could offer something like a percent off for orders placed at the fair, or a free veil with a gown etc. You could also offer a discount code to be entered at your website if they order after the expo, but set an expiration date.
One big key to success at an expo is to interact with your customers. Don't sit behind a table waiting for them to approach you. Also, have some sort of a drawing (free veil or necklace or something else small) to gather contact information so that you may follow up with the brides. The key to the follow up is to do it within 24-48 hours of the event, otherwise they'll have forgotten you. And it can be as simple as "Thank you for stopping by my booth, I just wanted to see if you had any further questions that I might be able to answer for you."

Robert Frank became famous for a series of photographs made during 1955 and 1956 that were published in a book called The Americans. Born in Switzerland in 1924, Frank had been living in the United States only since 1947 when he made a cross-country trip financed by a Guggenheim Fellowship, the first ever given to a European-born photographer.
