Im a female beginner for mx?
I need some help in working out what type of bike to upgrade to.
I have a kx 85 at the moment but because im 16 i need to upgrade so i can start racing. Do you know what i should upgrade to?
Im not that good of a rider but i want to get into it seriously and eventually give the guys a hard time on the track lol one day.
I am about 5'5 if that helps
I also would like to know how long does it take for most people to start jumping and clearing table tops easily?
please help !
I think a lot will depend upon what country you happen to be in as where I am (Australia) it is a bit harder for the girls as once you are 16 you are not allowed to race a smaller bike like the kx85 and you no choice other than to go for either the 2 stroke 125 or the 4 stroke 250f. Due to 2 strokes really not being a great choice for anyone seriously wanting to race this then limits the rider even further. I believe that in America they are a lot more tolerant of bike size for the ladies and if you happen to live there then perhaps you may be lucky enough to have a couple of the guys who know their mx from there answer you. Look out for Ddrum as he has a lot of knowledge on offer. From past answers I believe you may be allowed to race the crf150r if in America and that would be a great starter for racing and pretty much the same size as the kx you have. They have heaps of power while still being easy to ride.
If you want to improve as quickly as possible then get yourself some lessons from a coach. Most tracks can usually tell you about what coaches they have available. But seat time on a bike, listening to what other riders have to say and watching will help. Just take your time as there is no rush and find someone to train with who is better than you and then when you are ready you can use them to gauge your speed into jumps. I don't believe there is any specific time to state someone can sucessfully jump as everyone is different and when your ready you will jump.
But state what country you are in so someone from there can give you the correct information
