How to remove glue form wood?
I am making a wook table, but when I was painting it, I saw that there are places where it is stained with glue. How can I remove it?
It is a white wood glue, very easy to find in everyware. Also used at school to glue paper, but I used it to glue some parts of the table.
Pva glue is water based and you should always clean it as you go with a damp cloth.
If it has stained the wood you should try sanding or 'scraping' the affected areas if the stain will show.
If you don't have a cabinet scraper then sharpen a plane iron on an oil-stone but leave the burr on the back intact. Scrape the burr over the affected area and that will remove a fine, even layer of wood. Then lightly sand the area with a fine/medium grade paper in the direction of the wood grain.
That's all I can think of.
Btw if you are painting the table then it isn't such a big problem as the paint will cover the glue stain once the excess is sanded off but if you are varnishing or staining the table then it's a big problem.
