Because Union labor makes cheap products. That evil China taking all the jobs and producing everything. Consumers must be evil for feeding into it.
You seem to forget (maybe you're young?) that Americans bought American products for 200 years, until Reagan came in and dropped our protective tariffs, opening the door for the situation we're in now, where wages have stagnated so badly and unions have been busted to the point all we can afford is cheap crappy Chinese socks. I remember what it was like before.
